Program Overview
One-to-one tutoring wasn't listed under Instructional Type, but we do train volunteers to tutor English as a Second Language (ESL) and Basic Adult Literacy (Reading and Writing). There is a waiting list for a one-to-one tutors, but classes are available.
Karen Bridegam is the Coordinator who will welcome new adult students. Karen works part-time on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: Tuesday 1:00 - 6:00, Wednesday and thursday 11:30 - 4:30. Contact Karen by phone 941-861-1320 or email north.port.literacy@gmail.com. If you come to see Karen without contacting her first, she may not be there, so it's better to call or email first. When you come to the Library, someone at the Library Information Desk will help you find Karen's office.
Our program offers English classes for adults who know very little or no English and volunteer tutors for all levels of English teaching. We also help English-speaking adults who want to improve their reading and writing skills.
