Program Overview

Literacy Volunteers of Bridgeport provides free tutoring for
adults who would like to learn to speak English, improve
their basic reading, writing and/or math skills, earn their high school diploma, obtain citizenship, or prepare for other exams or certifications. We also partner with Bridgeport Adult Education and the State Department of Education
to assist students in earning their high school diploma through the National External Diploma Program (NEDP).

We are located on the 3rd floor of the Bridgeport Public Library (main branch). Please call or email for an appointment.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to actively promote literacy by identifying adult literacy needs in our community and meeting those needs through direct literacy services. We strive to help our clients acquire the literacy skills necessary to be successful in the workplace, participate in the education of their children and lead productive lives.
