Program Overview

Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts at the Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood provides free, confidential, and flexibly scheduled tutoring to adults in basic literacy or English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) through the use of trained and supervised volunteer tutors. We provide 1-on-1 tutoring and some ESOL conversation groups. Tutor and student pairs meet at a mutually agreeable time at the Norwood Library or at another public location once a week for 2 hours. All volunteers must successfully complete a volunteer information session and tutor training workshop in either basic literacy or ESOL before being matched with a student.
