Program Overview
The GiGi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center's Literacy Tutoring Program provides 1:1 tutoring in 12-15 week sessions, three times a year. Trained tutors work at the level of the child or adult, continually challenging and encouraging them using custom flashcards, books, computer resources, and games. This literacy education includes not only direct instruction with the individual but educating their parents, school teachers, and therapists as well. Books and reading material are specific to the life-stage and interests of the student. Whether it be a favorite television character for a toddler, a specific subject in the classroom, or a job-related topic, each book is created with relevant information to the student.

GiGi's Playhouse has been a godsend and a blessing for Joshua to continue to read at a higher level and I'm so grateful. Thank you for all the good work you do. -Soaring, Joshua's Mom
Volunteering as a tutor at GiGi's Playhouse started as a nice way to get service learning hours. But after seeing the difference I could make with one student I knew I would be back. I feel like I also learn from them and it has been a joy to be a part of such an amazing organization that provides this to families for free! Natalie, 2nd year tutor
