Literacy Outreach serves students such as Celia, a stay-at-home mom from Mexico. With a child in need of medical care, she and her husband immigrated to the United States to seek a better life for their family. Her commitment to learning English has been astounding. Celia studied two hours per week with her tutor and completed two hours of homework each week. Her goal was simple. She needed to communicate with her son's doctors and her other children's teachers. Her English skills have improved immensely. She and her husband have earned their citizenship. Celia has learned to drive and read maps. Currently, she is working on her GED at Colorado Mountain College.
