Parent Engagement Workshops

Program Overview
LINC hosts Parent Engagement Workshops that help caregivers build early literacy skills at home, giving parents the tools and resources needed to make sure their children to enter school ready to read. These workshops share easy routines that families can use to support key learning benchmarks including motor skills, language development, and early print concepts. The workshops are offered for specific ages and designed to build upon one another.
For parents of children 0-1, we share strategies to support early language development. We demonstrate how to talk to your baby, even when they can't talk back - and why it's so important.
For parents of children 2-3, we continue to work on communication, but we also work on vocabulary, comprehension, and print concepts.
For parents of children 4-5, we help you get your child ready for kindergarten! At these workshops we work on letter recognition and sounds and tell you how you can help at home (including multilingual households).
At all parent workshops, age appropriate books are distributed in order to help families build a home library and encourage healthy reading habits. Parents who attend a LINC workshop(s) are often motivated to extend what they have learned beyond their own family.
