Student and Volunteer Success Stories

" I always thought I was stupid because I didn't learn to read. When I went to the Literacy Council of White County, they told me I was dyslexic and just needed to learn a different way. At first I didn't think they would be able to teach me to read, but I did learn to read. I was chosen as student of the year for all the state Literacy Councils in 2016. I always tell people that that award means more to me than my high school diploma, because I could not read my high school diploma and I could read my student of the year award." -S.H.
