Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Originally from Honduras, Alexa and her husband moved to the United States 10 years ago to raise a family, knowing that the U.S. would be a better place for their children. She shared her concerns regarding her country, “It is not safe. There are no strict policies or control. It is much better here for my children. School is good for them, and I am happy here with my family.” Besides being a loving mother of two and a supportive wife, she is also a caring daughter. Alexa’s mother has recently fallen ill. Alexa does what she can to provide for her mother back home. However, she wants to improve her English skills so she can work to support her mother and her family further. Despite the challenges, Alexa’s drive and exceptional work ethic cannot be dismissed. You can always find Alexa’s hand in the air, ready to answer any question during class. Furthermore, she isn’t afraid to speak up and ask questions. As a proactive and engaged student, Alexa has consistently grown in her ESL classes. In addition to her schooling at Learning For ALL, she is an accomplished and intelligent woman who has finished her secondary and undergraduate education, receiving a degree in electrical science. Hard work is an understatement when describing Alexa.
