Program Overview
The LEADS program provides academic coordination and
wraparound services to increase the high school graduation rate for youth in foster care. Since 2017, MAAC has served 1,541 students in foster care between 9th-12th grade, or pursuing a GED, while dramatically impacting graduation and college acceptance rates. The majority also have at least one behavioral health diagnosis, and over 50% are eligible for special education. Staffed by experienced, highly trained social workers, LEADS administers a diverse array of services to address both academic needs and social determinants of health for these students– including providing tutoring support, school engagement, extracurricular activities, technology resources, transportation, social and personal development, medical supplies, and more. Students are also supported
in connections to community and school that promote educational and placement stability.
