Program Overview

JPL as a Family Place Library will be offering Parent-Child Workshops as a component of Family Place Libraries. The Parent-Child Workshop will be held a minimum of two times per year, with five sessions each.

In these workshops, time is given for the parent and child to interact together in developmental early literacy activities. While they are doing this, an expert in a developmental discipline interacts with and addresses parents' concerns and need for information in their area of expertise. The five areas of expertise include, Early Literacy; Child Development; Speech, Hearing and Language Development; Nutrition, and Music, Play and Health.

These workshops have an emphasis on parent/child interaction and are play-based and child-driven. Parents have the opportunity to get the information they need on an individual and small group basis to form the basis for their child's early literacy.

Call for dates and times of workshops.
