Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Oner of JALC's most recent English Language Learners originally from Venezuela has only been with the program for 11 months. During the first 6 months she was able to secure a library card, work permit, and secure part-time employment. In the last 2 months she has secured full-time employment, a driver's license, independent housing with her sibling, and has improved her SPL from 4 to 7. The learners long term plan is to pursue the TOEFL exam and continue her education at John A Logan College. The learner reports her tutoring experiences have been very positive and rewarding.
