Program Overview

Jefferson College AEL serves our community by delivering quality learning opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their goals and strives to inspire our community to explore, develop, and engage in innovative learning experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment. Most adults aged 17 years and older are eligible for this program.

Jefferson College Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program offers classes at three sites in Jefferson County: Hillsboro, Arnold and High Ridge.

All classes at all sites are free of charge. Currently, we are offering hybrid classes. A student is in a face to face class two days a week, and the rest of the class time is online.

The Arnold site is the only site offering classes to help English Language Learners (ELL/ESL) currently.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

I must thank Jefferson College, AEL, and WIOA for the community and support they have provided me.

Lifting me from the ashes of where, years prior, another school district failed. Allowing me to finally achieve what was lost, AEL's teachers did an outstanding job helping me understand and translate the five crucial subjects of the HiSET.

Allowing me to know my options such as WIOA, for funding assistance and opportunities, or scholarships that gave me even further drive to do well on the HiSET. Now I plan to go to College, taking apprenticeships and other programs along the way, eventually acquiring Computer Science and Mathematics Degrees.

While my main focus is on Video Games and Game Engine Design, I'd also like to contribute into new technology to further advance the field and create experiences only ever seen in dreams. Participating in various events to develop my ability as a coder and designer, as well expanding into Neuroscience, Biotechnology, and Biomechanics where I can. Eventually I hope to create my own game development company that pushes the limits of what is possible, while treating the people like actual people, and not products. My goals may seem ambitious, however I am focused on the here and now. Let us make something great together.
