IMPACT Family Center

Program Overview

IMPACT Family Center has been focused on education technology, digital media, arts, and wellness programs and services in order to provide holistic care for youth teens and adults throughout the south side and south suburbs of Chicago. This organization has tirelessly worked with low-income teens to improve literacy, teach effective communication skills, digital media and television production skills that will help students perform better in school. The deeper lessons in life-skills, character-building and self-esteem have created a catalyst for change in the hearts and minds of teens who believed that they did not have a future. We can proudly say that dozens are in trade schools, colleges and universities or working in promising careers today due largely, in part, to the time spent at IMPACT.

In addition, IMPACT Family Center has been providing, adult literacy though digital means for two years, which were created because the 8 years of youth literacy programs uncovered the need to assist the adults in the lives of teens. Parents and grandparents were unable to assist the youth in the home because of their own educational deficits.

Young adults who became dropouts as a result of various soci-economic and generational barriers to education were in need of earning their GED in order to provide them with tools that would help them secure jobs and careers.
