Program Overview

Hope Academy is a school in which pregnant and parenting teens can attend to complete a high school credential and raise a healthy child. We believe that teen parents have the potential to be great parents. The purpose of Hope Academy is to ensure the long-term self-sufficiency and parenting capacity of teen parents and the healthy growth and development of their children. Hope serves pregnant and parenting teens 14-21 who are completing high school or would like to earn their GED or HSED. Teens and their children within 60 miles of La Crosse are eligible to attend at no cost to the family. Hope Academy uses a family literacy model, offering instructional services that include early childhood education, adult literacy education, parenting education, and structured literacy interaction between teen parents and their children. By using this family literacy model, Hope serves two generations simultaneously, intervening to ensure that children of teen parents enter school ready to learn.
