Program Overview
HER Power Reads is a family literacy program offered by the HER Power Project. Our program helps adults and children improve their reading and learning skills together through online sessions. Adults can join virtual classes to build basic reading skills, prepare for their GED, or learn English as a Second Language (ESL). Children ages 3 to 12 can enjoy fun, interactive activities like online storytelling, reading games, and creative projects to help them succeed in school. Families also participate in Parent and Child Together Time (PACT), where they learn and grow together, building stronger bonds and a love of learning. Classes are free and open to everyone. Online sessions are flexible and easy to join from home. Start your journey to a brighter future with HER Power Reads today!

"When I was in elementary school, reading felt impossible. I was always behind, and it made me feel like I'd never catch up," shared Alex, a former student of one of our educators. "But everything changed when I joined the literacy program. My facilitator believed in me and showed me how to break down words and understand stories. By middle school, I could read on my own and even started helping my younger siblings with their homework.
In high school, I kept improving, and by my senior year, I was excelling in English and earned a scholarship to college. Now, as a first-year college student, I see how important those early years were. I'm studying to become a teacher so I can give back and help others like me. This program didn't just teach me to read—it gave me the confidence to believe in myself and dream big."
