Program Overview
The Fannin Literacy Council was formed in April, 2004, by a group of community leaders who were interested in improving the educational opportunities and economic conditions of Fannin County. These community leaders firmly believed that raising literacy levels would decrease crime and increase the standard of living in Fannin County. The Council worked to provide a system of adult education that will serve individuals interested in increasing their basic education skills or obtaining their GED (General Equivalency Development) through a flexible open-entry, open-exit system.
Literacy Council Board members are volunteers who represent various community organizations. GED classes are provided in both Bonham and Honey Grove by four part-time paid teachers.
Hours: Bonham: Mon. and Tues. 5:00-8:00pm; Thurs. 9:00am-12:00 noon
Honey Grove: Mon. and Tues. 9 am-12 noon & 4-7 pm
Hours of operation: Mon, Tues, Thurs
Cost info: No charge for attending the free GED preparation classes to Fannin County, Texas, residents. In addition, assistance can be provided for GED testing costs to students who have attended HOPE GED classes.
