Program Overview

Healthy Kidz Inc. at Tindal Activity Center has partnered with the Love of Literacy and Book Nook Literacy Program. The Love of Literacy program is to develop a love of literacy by providing hands-on early literacy resources and creating opportunities for the community. The program has the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. Our reading services will have a high-quality instructional approach that is comprehensive and research-based. Sessions will address foundational skills that are necessary for learning to read and write. There are hands-on resources and services focus on the components of literacy such as phonemic awareness, letter sound, knowledge/alphabetic principle, word decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling and written expression. The other literacy program is Book Nook. The Book Nook platform monitors academic progress by looking at both mastery of specific standards and students' independent instructional level. In addition, the Book Nook platform adjusts recommended difficulty of lessons according to each individual student's pace of growth.

There is a young man who I call Healthy Kidz Inc. future CEO was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as a young child. He did not start communicating until he was 5 years old. With multiple delays such as socialization, communication and a speech which made it difficult for him to learn how to read and comprehend. The future CEO has been in our programs for five years and he has excelled in reading and math. He is now ten years old, and he is reading, and comprehension are two grades ahead. He loves to read and do math in our after-school programs. He is also outstanding athletics where he excels in soccer.
