Healing Spaces

Program Overview

Agape Life Prevention Center (ALPC) offers free education programs for children that provide support outside of school. Our Healing Spaces program includes reading literacy tutoring and social-emotional learning (SEL) coaching for low-income youth, ages 8-14 and their parents within the Clayton, Dekalb and Fulton County services areas of Georgia. ALPC staff utilize trauma-informed techniques to improve the children and their families' quality of life, both academically and socially.

Tutoring sessions are hosted Monday through Thursday in the spring and fall semesters. Students arrive after school and are provided a healthy meal that meets the nutritional guidelines and homework assistance for the first hour. During the second hour of the session students receive reading literacy tutoring in one-on-one or small groups setting.

We also offer meditation, team building, positive communication, and self-management skill development.

Parents can attend ALPC's Saturday two-hour sessions with their children to develop their relationship-building, social awareness, and reflective thinking skills.
