Program Overview

Hayes Academy of Innovation Family Literacy Program offers family literacy night workshops where children and their caregivers learn together. Families participate in shared reading activities, hands-on literacy lessons, and guided practice that shows caregivers how to support reading at home. Workshops support early readers, struggling readers, and children with learning differences such as dyslexia. The program is open to families in the community and is offered during scheduled family literacy nights throughout the year. Parents share that they value the opportunity to learn alongside their children in a hands-on, engaging environment. Families report increased confidence in supporting reading skills and appreciate that learning feels approachable, collaborative, and fun rather than stressful.

Cost Info

Family Literacy workshops are provided at no cost to participating families. Materials and resources are provided through nonprofit funding and grants.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Families appreciate that these workshops allow them to learn with their children rather than feeling unsure about how to help at home. Parents often comment that the hands-on activities make reading feel less intimidating and more enjoyable for both adults and children. The shared experience helps build confidence, connection, and positive attitudes toward literacy.
