Program Overview

At this point, our program serves as a source of financial and emotional support as clients work to achieve their GED. When we first meet with clients, we provide study materials, and set up a GED account. If students prefer a classroom approach, we provide GED prep class schedules from our local junior college, SouthWestern Illinois College (SWIC). Additionally, if our client requires gas vouchers for travel, we provide that support. We also fund practice tests on the GED site and the actual GED tests. We also provide support through communication -- letters and texts of encouragement. Many on HACSM's staff are retired teachers, so we offer one-on-one tutoring, as well.

Cost Info

Clients are supported as they acquire their GED. HACSM provides study material and computer access (limited), covers costs of test-taking, and offers gas vouchers to travel to test sites.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Recently a client successfully completed her GED test and is now enrolled in a nationally-recognized beauty school.
