Program Overview

Literacy services offered on site help individuals find and keep employment, and improve their reading, writing and math skills so that they can apply for better jobs. Goodwill Industries of East Texas, Inc. provides job readiness, job training, counseling and job placement services. Face to face classroom instruction is offered as well as self-paced computer instruction.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Rebecca Weatherford started working for Goodwill September 2017 when she realized she did not have an HS Diploma. Going through the new hire process, Rebecca went to obtain a copy of her high school transcript, after she reviewed the transcript; she was two credits short from completing her diploma. After speaking to church friends and co-workers, she was motivated her to seek her GED with the help of Goodwill. Attending classes Monday through Thursday, she has continued to progress towards her goals and maintain a steady income.

At the age of 49, Mrs. Weatherford said "I'm proud to say I AM GOODWILL. This program gave me a chance to better myself. My family, church and co-workers all support me."
