Program Overview

Our mission is to empower girls in grades 3-8 through dynamic book discussions that advance literacy skills. Our vision is to create a culture of girls who enjoy reading in a thriving community. We read a diverse selection of books for 3-5 and 6-8, which promotes a love of reading. We have five core values that guide our selection of books: Leadership, Social Impact, Character Development, Communication Skills, and Career Exploration. Our girls elect book club officers who, with their mentors, plan engaging, hands-on meetings that lead book discussions. We meet twice a month on the second and fourth Thursdays, both virtually and in person, at our local library. We believe that readers are leaders. Our motto -We Bring Books to Life!

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

As a member of the Girls Empowered Book Club, I enjoy reading and discussing books with my new friends. We have fun during book club, discussing the characters and what they are going through. My favorite part of book club is when we go places like they do in the book, and when we complete crafts after discussing the book. Book club is fun and I enjoy everything that we do!
