The Gilmer Learning Center is a private non-profit agency with the mission of increasing the literacy level in the community. The GLC does this by teaching adult non-readers how to read, by helping adults lacking proficiency in English (whether native speakers of English or native speakers of another language) attain proficiency in use of English, and by helping adults lacking a complete high school education prepare for successful completion of the GED test. Instruction is self-paced and, in the case of the ESL and GED prep programs, computer-based, with over-the-shoulder instructor support. Services are free of charge and available to anyone age 18 or older. People from other countries are not required to provide documentation of legal residence status in order to receive services.
Hours of operation: Monday-Thursday, 9am-7pm
Cost info: Services are free of charge.
