Program Overview
Get Albany Reading began in 2011 and focused on adult literacy; however, we are expanding into a more comprehensive and inclusive program. Our goal is to improve adult literacy through phonics, vocabulary, and life skills. Youth literacy remains a critical bridge to economic mobility and educational attainment in Albany, Dougherty County. Traditional textbook-heavy configurations often inadvertently alienate struggling or conscious adult and youth learners. To sustainably alter local reading proficiencies, the community requires an immersive, non-stigmatized structural space where language nutrition is gamified for early learners and creative media production incentivizes reading mastery for middle school and early teenage demographics.
Our mission is to encourage, enhance, and empower the community through literacy. We encourage anyone to contact us and begin the literacy journey!

Fees vary depending on group size and personal tutoring. The program is free for individuals and families working together.Student and Volunteer Success Stories
