Student and Volunteer Success Stories

“When I first came to the Center, I was embarrassed by my reading comprehension abilities, but Sister Cathy Stare was so patient and kind with me that I felt welcome immediately."

--Annmarie Pariag

“The teachers, staff, and the ladies at School Sisters of Notre Dame are extremely encouraging. Some days are harder than others, but always remembering the bigger picture and having support is key. The teachers and students all work together. If I must miss class, other students give me copies of the work I missed, and vice versa. The Center is a great place to make positive life changes. It's the perfect place to learn with some of the best teachers who are also encouraging and show they care for each individual. My Social Studies teacher, Miss Maureen, gave me extra work so I could prepare at home for the test (which I passed), which I could not do without her."

--Giannina Lopez

“Thank you for all your support and guidance throughout my preparation. Your encouragement has been invaluable to me."

--Ling Liu

“I PASSED!"

--Sema Charon

“What I really enjoy about the GED Math course is learning new things every day with two amazing math teachers. Solving math problems in multiple ways old form, new form, and trying to comprehend the basics. Helping one another, learning from one another, making friends with good spirit

--Stephanie Alicia

“I did enjoy being in the Center with a great group of teachers ...learning all the subjects—it is clear that I am growing everyday thanks to all teachers in the Center."

--Monica Claudio
