Program Overview

Cut One School One Youth Crime Intervention, Inc. (COSOYCI) is a community-based program that supports youth and young adults ages 16–24 who may be at risk of getting into trouble or who need help staying on a positive path.

COSOYCI works with young people and their families to identify challenges such as food insecurity, transportation needs, or unsafe environments, and helps connect them to resources that can improve stability at home and in the community. We also offer after-school and Saturday programs that focus on mentorship, life skills, and workforce exposure.

One of our programs introduces students to barbering and other workforce skills as a way to build confidence, discipline, and job readiness. GED support is also available for participants who need help completing their education.

Programs are based in Tunica County, Mississippi, with partnerships in Shelby County, Tennessee. Services are offered after school during the week and on Saturday mornings. Participation is free or low-cost, depending on availability.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

One of our students, Marcus, joined COSOYCI after struggling in school and feeling unsure about his future. He had fallen behind academically and did not see many positive options for himself. Through COSOYCI, Marcus received mentoring, GED support, and exposure to barbering as a possible career path.

With consistent encouragement and structure, Marcus began attending sessions regularly, improved his confidence, and stayed focused on completing his education goals. He also learned the importance of discipline, responsibility, and showing up on time. Today, Marcus is actively working toward his GED and exploring workforce opportunities connected to barbering.

Marcus's story shows how mentorship, education support, and real-world skill exposure can help young people move toward a positive and stable future.
