Program Overview
The GCPS Community Based Hispanic Mentoring Program is a branch of a current 10 year long program that has been serving the African American community. With the launch of the Hispanic Mentoring Program, we will focus on self awareness and self esteem. The whole child's emotional, academic and social growth is important. We will help build bridges with the students and parents by incorporating Spanish into many events, activities and lessons. We will help students and their parents see the strength they hold in their own culture and that language & culture go hand in hand. What a better way to do this than by literature and having access to bilingual or English/Spanish versions of books. In addition, we will invite authors of said book and guest readers to read the books.
