Program Overview

Fort Bend Care Center exists to transform community wellness in the Fort Bend County through literacy, health, and wellness programs. Currently, we offer weekly ESL class, GED preparation class and Citizenship class.

24% of people in Fort Bend County are having limited English proficiency. To help people develop English literacy, Fort Bend Care Center offers Adult Education courses such as English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Conversation. In the past three years of offering literacy programs, we have seen the number of students tripled.

Fort Bend Care Center offers courses in the GED (General Education Development) preparation equipping people for employment. To support immigrants in our community, Fort Bend Care Center also offers a Citizenship Class.

Fort Bend Care Center hosts a Health Clinic, run by Access Health, to provide health screening and education to those in our community, particularly to those lacking health insurance coverage. With some seniors being visitors to the US without health insurance, the health clinic can assist those who need help, including those who have long-term illnesses or have run out of medication.

Every third Saturday of the month, Fort Bend Care Center partners with the Second Mile to run the Community Food Fair, offering assistance to roughly 100 families and distributing 13,000 lbs of fresh produce.
