FIRM Family Literacy Program

Program Overview

The FIRM Family Literacy program serves children and families from the diverse refugee community in Fresno aged 0-5. This program takes place in the FIRM Family Literacy Center, which is a literacy-themed, two-room facility on FIRM's campus. The program utilizes several curricula to include activities that teach parents (many of whom are limited English proficient) to engage with their children on a regular basis for their children's literacy skill development. This includes such activities as reading circles, weekly lesson plans that focus on phonic skill development, art activities, reading corners and much more!
