Program Overview
We offer adult programs including:
*GED prep. We can help you get ready for each of the four GED test areas at your pace based on the specific instruction you need. We provide GED Ready tests to guide instruction, assistance getting vouchers to pay for your GED test, and help with all activities related to getting your GED.
*basic literacy. Our instruction is based on your goals and skills. Times and locations are flexible.
*English as a Second Language services. We offer one-to-one instruction as well as conversation groups.
JMG (Jobs for Michigan's Graduates). If you are under 24 years old and participate in our program, you can qualify for extra help through our JMG program. Staff members will help you remove barriers, provide direct instruction, assist with GED attainment, and help you select your career. They can help you enter training programs or even enroll in college.
Hours of instruction are flexible. In addition to our main office, we offer tutoring in partnership with GST Michigan Works at regional offices in Lapeer, Tuscola, Huron, Sanilac, and Shiawassee Counties.
We also offer family programs including:
*tutoring programs for children through school and library partnerships focusing on kids in second and third grades.
*workshops for families to help children build school-readiness skills.
Cost Info
Currently, we have funding and pathways to help you get your GED paid for through the State of Michigan. We provide no cost practice tests for our students. We also provide tutoring services at no charge for students who qualify for services through our grant programs. If paying for tutoring or GED is a barrier, we can probably help.Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Dan came to us when he was 19 years old. He had to quit school in 10th grade to go to work to help his family financially. He tested high on his intake test. We enrolled him the Youth Work Experience with GST Works! and had him work in our office. He earned his GED and is now studying Engineering at the University of Michigan—Flint.
Amy came to us at the age of 17 years old. She got sick with Lyme Disease in the 8th grade and had to quit school. She earned her GED with us and has started attending Macomb Community College.
