Program Overview

The Family Literacy Hubs program is offered through the Gary Community School Corporation at select schools across the district. This program is for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, and English language skills. We offer Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL/ELA), and GED/High School Equivalency (HSE) support. While adults are learning, children can participate in fun reading activities through Parent and Child Together (PACT). Families will read books, complete literacy activities, and learn ways to practice reading at home. The program is free and open to parents, guardians, and caregivers of GCSC students. Classes and activities take place in welcoming Family Engagement Rooms designed to support learning. Participants may also receive books and take-home materials. For dates, times, and school locations, please contact the GCSC Family and Community Engagement Department.
