Program Overview

Our Family Literacy program strives to bring families together to celebrate literacy and the joy of reading, while focusing on improving literacy skills. Programming includes events such as:

  • FAMILY LITERACY NIGHTS - Families of elementary children participate in fun art, music and literacy activities related to a carefully chosen book.
  • IMAGINATION STATIONS - Parents and pre-school age children participate in a story time and craft activity based on a popular children's book.
  • AdLit aka Adolescent Literacy - Programming places contemporary fiction in the hands, hearts and minds of middle and high school students. The students will receive the book through the established school book club 4-6 weeks in advance of the discussion. The discussion takes place during the school day in a designated area of the school. Community members are invited to participate in the reading and discussion of the novel. Each student keeps the book to add to their home library.

Family Literacy programs supply thousands of books per year to family libraries.
