Program Overview
Since 2011, Family Life Community Services, a 501 (c) (3) provides family literacy programming at five sites in the Springfield metro area. We currently serve 155 at-risk children and youth who attend our after school centers and work on homework, reading and math remediation, and general study. Structured recreational activities are provided along with other programs by community partners. Free snacks and a hot meal are provided. In one community there are 101 homeless children and we serve a handful of them as well. We offer programs for the whole family such as literacy, finances, parenting programs, early childhood, and Parents and Child Time together. Our ability to provide a free hot meal to the children and parents (when able) allows for more participation. We also distribute groceries and help parents navigate the school system and other wrap around services.
