Program Overview
The Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Center is a program of Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) with the mission of empowering parents to be supportive and informed advocates for their children. ACPS serves over 14,000 students and is one of the most diverse school systems in the nation with students from 125 countries, speaking nearly 90 different languages. Of the total students served, 58% receive free and reduced meals (with some schools as high as 80%) and nearly thirty percent are English Language Learners. FACE is based on the premise that all parents want to support their children’s learning but many are unsure of what is considered appropriate or what the most helpful approach is. FACE strives to bridge this gap by providing information, resources and educational opportunities for families.
