Program Overview

Our mission is to cultivate a welcoming, thriving community that collaborates with refugees and newcomers through education, engagement, and support.

English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Courses:
a. Year-round multi-leveled classes serving Basic, Beginner, Intermediate, and UpperIntermediate students (RDC services also include referral to Lansing Community College when appropriate so students maximize their learning potential).

b. Free course placement tests in addition to pre and post testing on an individualized basis and ongoing student monitoring. Differentiated instruction so as to meet learner
needs and provide customized content for optimal learning

(EFEL):
Our EFEL Program is focused on the youngest learners and their caregiver(s). Utilizing an evidence-based literacy curriculum, we provide instruction and a framework to support the development of foundational skills to improve and/or enhance success in early literacy.

Youth
Programs: Our youth programs are designed specifically for refugee and newcomer youth who need extra support with academics, peer connections, and adjusting to life in their new community.
