Program Overview

The Family Literacy Initiative by Nurturing Roots Parent Academy (NRPA) is designed to empower families by strengthening literacy skills and creating a love for learning that starts at home. Our program addresses literacy gaps by providing parents and children with tools, resources, and support to grow together academically.

Key Features of the Program:

• Adult Literacy Support: Parents receive foundational literacy instruction, helping them improve reading, writing, and comprehension skills. These sessions also teach parents how to support their child's academic journey.
• Child Literacy Enrichment: Children participate in engaging activities, including tutoring, creative storytelling, and arts-based projects that foster literacy development and self-expression.
• Parent and Child Together Time (PACT): Families come together in interactive sessions where they read, create, and learn side-by-side, strengthening both skills and relationships.
• Take-Home Literacy Kits: Families receive culturally relevant books, flashcards, and games to continue building literacy skills at home.
• Workshops for Advocacy: Parents learn how to navigate school systems and advocate for equitable access to educational resources.
