Program Overview
Namaste Charter School is a public school in the McKinley Park neighborhood. The school serves 485 students in grades K-8 and is open to all families residing in the City of Chicago. Application is by lottery in April of each year. Approximately one-third of students are English Language Learners, so Namaste's program features a Dual Language track through which students become fully bilingual and biliterate by fifth grade. So, by the time students are in middle school, they are able to speak, read and write fluently in both Spanish and English. Parents and families of enrolled students are also offered English acquisition workshops, participation in a Bilingual Action Committee, and Dual Language literacy activities throughout the year.
