Program Overview
This is an extended day program that provides enriched project-based learning in science, math and English for middle school students. Sudents are also taught good health habits, academic skills, coping skills and character development. There is a family literacy program where parents meet regularly with each other and with their childen. Parents learn how to help their children and how to engage in activities with them; this includes how to create a nuturing family that addresses trauma in thier lives, how to become involved in their children's learning, how to navigate through the school district in counseling, course selections, opportunities, family nutritions, etc. Parents are also taught technological skills, resume building, job seeking and how to get a GED. The staff helps them with job searches and skills they request. The program is a coming together of children and their parents.
