Program Overview
Our ESL classes help individuals integrate and form literacy and basic communication skills to help their immigration journey. We work with local schools, community centers, and libraries to provide free English language classes to non-native speakers. Areas of ESL focus include:
Practical Communication: Emphasis on everyday conversation and literacy skills. The goal is to help adults with daily life, including greetings, asking for and reading directions, and making social connections.
Life Skills: Including literacy instruction for real-world activities like grocery shopping and taking public transportation.
Cross-Cultural Integration: Promoting awareness of cultural differences and offering guidance on how to communicate effectively in a variety of social settings.
Classes take place at LORI's offices located at 1120 Government Street - Family Youth Service Center Ste E. Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
Schedule: Tuesdays and Weds. from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Virtual Classes also available.

Tuition is free of charge. A $25 registration fee is required to cover students' text and other materials.Education services
