Program Overview

Crowder College Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) offers free AEL, ELL, and Citizenship classes in the four counties of Barry, Lawrence, McDonald and Newton.

AEL classes offer assistance with high school equivalency (HSE) test preparation, basic skills review, and college and career transitions including Compass, NCRC-Workkeys and ASVAB preparation. Information about high school equivalency college scholarships can be found here.
ELL (English Language Learners) classes provide English language instruction. The aim is to improve speaking, reading, and writing skills in the English language. Necessary skills to function in life, social and business settings are taught.
ELL classes provide integrated services that incorporate English literacy and civics education, emphasizes instruction on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, naturalization procedures, civics participation and U.S. history and government. This class aims to help students acquire the skills and knowledge to become active and informed parents, workers and community members.

AEL classes are available at the following locations: Anderson, Aurora, Cassville, Anderson, Jane, Monett, Mount Vernon, Neosho, Noel, and Seligman.

ELL classes are available in Monett, Neosho, and Noel.
