Program Overview
Corners Outreach's Workforce Development Literacy Program helps adults strengthen reading, writing, math, and English language skills so they can succeed at work and build long-term stability. Our program includes English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED preparation, designed to meet learners where they are and move them toward employment.
Participants receive workforce-focused instruction that builds practical skills for the workplace, including communication, comprehension, and problem-solving. GED support helps adults earn a high school equivalency credential, opening doors to better job opportunities and continued education. All participants receive an Individual Service Plan, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support as needed. Classes are offered on a rolling basis, with flexible timelines based on individual goals. Our ultimate goal is to help participants gain the skills and confidence needed to pursue living-wage, sustainable employment and a stronger future for themselves and their families.
Cost Info
Both GED and ESL programs cost $250. ESL is cost per semester. GED is six months of prep and testing.Student and Volunteer Success Stories
When Itzel first joined Corners' English to Employment classes, her goal was simple — to be able to find a more stable job. A devoted wife and mother of five, Itzel had been running a small home-based business but longed for greater financial security. Through months of ESL classes at Corners Outreach, she built her vocabulary, practiced conversation, and learned how to apply her skills in professional settings.
Her persistence paid off. Today, Itzel works as a secretary for a roofing company, earning a sustainable income while still pursuing her dream of entrepreneurship.
