Cooking Up Literacy

Program Overview

Cooking Up Literacy is a free family literacy program for children and their caregivers. Families attend together at schools or libraries and take part in shared reading, discussion, and a simple hands-on learning activity. Each family receives a take-home literacy cookbook they can use again at home.

The program is designed to be welcoming and easy to join. No prior registration, cooking skills, or special supplies are needed. Activities are age-appropriate for elementary-aged children and are guided by trained facilitators.

Cooking Up Literacy takes place in community locations such as schools and libraries and is offered at no cost to families. The goal is to help families build reading routines, spend time learning together, and feel more confident supporting learning at home.
