Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"I never thought I would go back to school to learn better and get a career opportunity. My life long dream of becoming a CNA is fulfilled because of this CLC program.

In the Community Learning Center CNA program I got the opportunity to achieve my educational and career goals in the health care field. The following are some of the advantages I got from the CNA program:

By using CNA skills I am able to support my family, relatives and co-workers. For example, I can teach people how to use gloves and masks to care for themselves in the current pandemic. It helps me in order to change my life style.

Before the training I didn't have knowledge about healthy diets, but after I learned about diet, now I can manage how I buy groceries. I check them. I am able to start to use my professional CNA skills in my part-time job as a wheelchair agent to care for elders and patients. I keep safe from hazardous conditions when I am lifting passengers.

The program helped me to develop self-confidence during interviews in the job readiness class. I learned proper professional interview tips and about the idea of CVs and resumes.

I applied my CNA skills during my training in a rehab center - I worked in patient care with my classmates. I feel happy because of my new CNA knowledge.

Using my CNA skills I passed my state exam. Before I didn't have any certificate, but now I have become a certified nursing assistant.

Our CLC class had such hard working, friendly staff. I love your friendly approach. I appreciate your methods to help us understand and communicate in the English Language. I liked that fun environment in CNA class, the way of group discussion and presentation with my classmates and my instructors."
