Program Overview

Women of the World's Community Development program focuses on connection and customization. Within this program, there are several options to get involved either as a client or volunteer.

Practical English Program

  • A volunteer-run, conversational English lab that focuses on improving spoken English. This is customizable and the discussions will usually begin with "what do you want to talk/learn about today?"
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • 12-1:30 pm
Intensive English Teacher
  • Professional English Teacher works with a cohort of 7-10 displaced women per session (usually 2-3 months). The class is designed to help women quickly progress in their conversational and vocational goals, prepare for exams, and engage in the community more effectively.
  • Typical schedule: Monday-Thursday
  • 9-12 pm
  • Call 801-953-0008 to learn about availability

Workshops

  • Workshops vary based on the interests and education of the women we serve! We try to have a theme for every month whether it is yoga, financial literacy, knitting, or reproductive health! These workshops are great opportunities to meet new friends from around the world and learn new skills.
  • Call 801-953-0008 for a monthly schedule
Case Management Services
  • Our amazing Case Managers will help with reading mail, advocating with community partners, and helping displaced women to fully integrate into their new home in Salt Lake City. We assist in finding or improving employment, developing resumes, and practicing interview skills.
