Program Overview
Our nation is facing a chronic literacy crisis:
- 21 million adults read below a 5th grade level.
- 80% of 8th graders living in poverty are not proficient in reading.
- 7 of 10 employers believe that recent college graduates lack the 21st century skills
In today's society, literacy skills aren't just important - they're essential for survival and vital for success. We need new solutions to reach students, especially in middle school, when the risk of losing interest and falling behind is particularly high. By developing digital learning games and curriculum set in the professional world, and supporting educators in creating student-centered classrooms, we invite students to take charge of their learning in a fun and meaningful way.

Our programs are free to educators and schools, thanks to our generous donors and supporters. We are also actively expanding into Out of School Time (OST) space to more readily meet students where they are gathering.Student and Volunteer Success Stories
