Learning Empowered, Inc- Citizenship, Integration and ESOL

Program Overview

Learning Empowered's Citizenship and Integration program provides comprehensive services that include Citizenship Instruction Classes, Naturalization application assistance and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. Learning Empowered has provided citizenship instruction for over 19 years. During the COVID period, 2019-2021, Learning Empowered has been able to consistently serve 250 students through innovative online-remote and virtual learning experiences. We use a hybrid model of virtual and in-person classes designed to meet the needs of all students by including choice, ease of access and flexible platform usage.

Learning Empowered provides citizenship instruction services to Legal Permanent Residents with legal supports through a partnership with Florida Justice for Our Neighbors (FLJFON). Our combined efforts support hundreds of families across the Tampa Bay region to actualize their dreams of starting a new life as a citizen of the USA.

Last year we had the opportunity to serve 200 adults in our Citizenship and Integration Program. Over 94% of these adults made significant educational gains while participating in our program.

Our legal partner, Florida Justice for our Neighbors (JFON) provided over 106 legal screenings and filed 92 applications for naturalization. We had 45 students pass the naturalization interviews and become citizens of the United States of America.

Students have immigrated from over 43 countries, with the majority from Mexico, Central and South America, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, Iraq, Egypt, the Caribbean-Dominican Republic, and Cuba

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

We have provided ESOL services for the past 22 years, with an average of 275 students annually. In our ESOL classes, we post-tested more than 80% of the students enrolled, and 80% of those students showed gains.
