Program Overview
The Children's Council is known for its work in child care centers, resources, and parenting programs but we do have another program that is filling a big need in our community. The Children's Council coordinates a G.E.D. class for parents with small children. This class is unique in Watauga County because it is the only G.E.D. class that provides free, on-site child care for the students. The class is held at Perkinsville Church (across from Hardin Park School) Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 to 12:30 (August through May). We have a children's play-room where children of the students are cared for by a wonderful staff. Most of our students graduate within a year of entering our program. This is a result of the support services offered to students.
Hours of operation: 8:30-4:30
