Program Overview

CLI's Family Literacy Events are joyful, hands-on experiences that bring families, educators, and children together around the power of reading and learning. Designed for young children and their caregivers, these events equip families with practical, easy-to-use strategies that turn everyday moments into meaningful literacy opportunities. Through interactive read-alouds, playful language activities, and guided family practice, caregivers learn how to support vocabulary, comprehension, and early writing at home—no special materials or prior experience required.

Each family receives high-quality, culturally affirming books and literacy kits to continue learning beyond the event. Children participate in engaging literacy stations that build confidence and excitement around reading, while adults gain tools that fit naturally into busy routines. Bilingual support and welcoming environments ensure every family feels seen and valued. More than a single event, CLI's Family Literacy Experiences strengthen home–school connections, empower caregivers as children's first teachers, and lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
