Centro Latino responds to the critical needs of Latinos within the Catawba Valley of Western, NC and seeks to bridge the cultural gap between Spanish and non-Spanish speaking members of the community through education, advocacy, and outreach programs. We partner with Catawba Valley Community College to offer onsite ESL classes, we partner with Lenoir-Rhyne University to offer bilingual after-school programming for at risk Latino youth grades k-8th, and we partner with many other educational/community organizations to host family support/parent education workshops. Our organization serves more than 8,000 clients per year.
Hours of operation: Mondays- Thursdays 10am-6pm (Fridays by appointment only)
Cost info: Centro Latino requests very small service fees but will never deny a client for inability to pay: After-school program- $40/month and $20/month for additional siblings (Program runs Mon-Thurs 3-6pm) Parent Education Programs- Free English as a Second Language Classes- Free Intrepretation/Translation services: $15/hr
