Program Overview

The Center for Family and Community Engagement's PARENT and FAMILY LEARNING LAB uplifts whole families by providing structured, culturally responsive literacy support for children and their adult household members, parenting support, and family activities through a three-way partnership among Project READ (Parkland College Adult Education), The Center for Family and Community Engagement at Champaign Unit 4 Schools, and the Douglass Branch of the Champaign Public Library. Registered families enjoy:

1. Free one-to-one adult tutoring in ESL, basic math, and reading

2. Parenting educational and support activities

3. PACT (Parent and Child Together activities) such as family yoga or scavenger hunts

4. Library Activities such as story time and free, high-interest, level-appropriate books

5. Children's education and academic support

All activities are planned in-person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 pm at Stratton Arts Academy, 902 N Randolph, Champaign.

Walk-in enrollment is welcome and encouraged!
